1963, 8 Venus Paradise Coloring Set: Space Age & American Indians

1963, 8 Venus Paradise Coloring Set: Space Age & American Indians

Here's something I rarely come across. It's a combination of two sets of the Venus Paradise Pencil By Number Picture Paks. These were my own sets dating back (gulp!) nearly 50 years ago. It includes 8 total illustrations all in the one envelope. The envelope is glossy full color and shows a colored sample from each of the additional 18 add-on sets. The flap on the back of the envelope is still in place.

Each add-on contained four illustrations so I must've put the two sets together at some time. They're all are the same size. No pencils were included because it was originally sold as an add-on pack. Each should contain 4 of each subject, but they do not. Here's what's included.

Pak 1

Space Age
Includes three 9½" x 13½" Illustrations. All three have never been colored. As you can see these were produced several years before the actual moon landing. They show three vehicles landing on the moon with astronauts piloting flying saucers across the lunar surface. One drawing, First U.S. Space Capsule In Orbit may be missing. Those included are:

  • Agena Satellite Vehicle (not colored) - also known as the Thor Rocket
  • Space Craft Land On Moon (not colored)
  • Future Moon Travel (not colored)

Pak 2

American Indians

Includes five 9½" x 13½" Illustrations. Four were fully colored by me. One is completely blank. I don't know why there are five drawings when the set originally included four. Possibly the blank drawing was mistakenly added to the Space Set; I really don't know. You can tell that I enjoyed these a lot and took a lot of time to color them in.

Included are:

  • Spear Fishing (not colored)
  • Buffalo Dance
  • Council Ring
  • Canoe Trip
  • Smoke Signals

Sold: Jan. 2013
